How Gombea Works

Gombea brings together publicly available information about Kenya's political representatives, electoral areas and public institutions and presents it in one simple, interactive experience.

We do not create official government records. We find, organise, connect and present information from multiple public sources so that it is easier to explore.

1. We Gather Public Information

Information about Kenya's political landscape exists across many different places.

Gombea gathers information from sources such as:

  • Parliament and the Senate
  • electoral authorities
  • county governments and county assemblies
  • official government publications and gazettes
  • political parties
  • other public bodies
  • reputable news organisations
  • other publicly accessible sources

Depending on availability, this can include representatives, political affiliations, electoral boundaries, career and education history, parliamentary activity, election information and recent news.

2. We Connect It to the Map

Kenya's political representation is closely connected to geography.

Gombea organises information around:

Kenya → County → Constituency → Ward

This allows you to explore the map, search for an area or use your location to understand the political representation relevant to that place.

As you move through the map, Gombea can show the appropriate representatives at each level — from national and county leadership down to MPs and MCAs.

3. We Organise the Information

Public information is rarely published in one consistent format.

Names may be written differently between sources. Political affiliations can change. Representatives leave office. By-elections take place. Biographies and career histories can contain years of information presented in very different ways.

Gombea structures this information into a consistent format while retaining its source and history wherever possible.

This allows information from different sources to be connected without pretending that every source is always complete or current.

4. We Turn Data Into Something You Can Explore

Gombea goes beyond lists of names.

The information can be explored visually to help reveal the composition of political representation across Kenya.

For example, you may be able to explore an area by:

  • political party
  • office
  • gender
  • age range
  • professional background
  • election period

Map layers can show where different parties hold elected offices, while insights can show the composition of leadership within a county or constituency.

These are presentations of the underlying data, not Gombea's political opinions or assessments.

5. We Show Where Information Comes From

Where practical, Gombea records the source used to support information displayed on the platform.

You may see information such as:

Source: Parliament of Kenya
Last checked: 8 August 2026

This helps you understand both where a record came from and how recently it was reviewed.

Original source links may also be provided so you can investigate further yourself.

6. We Recognise That Public Information Changes

Politics changes quickly.

A representative may change party, resign, lose their seat, be replaced following a by-election or leave office for another reason. Official websites themselves may sometimes take time to reflect those changes.

For this reason, Gombea does not assume that a record remains correct forever.

Records may be marked as verified, awaiting review, potentially outdated or subject to conflicting information where appropriate.

7. You Can Help Identify Something That's Wrong

If you notice information that appears incorrect or outdated, you can report it.

A report does not automatically change the information displayed on Gombea.

Instead, it identifies the record for review. We can then check available official records, recent public information and credible reporting before making a correction.

This gives the community a way to help us spot changes while protecting the integrity of the dataset.

8. We Bring Relevant News Together

Gombea can connect representatives with recent reporting from external news organisations and other public sources.

We do not aim to replace those publishers.

Gombea helps you discover relevant coverage and directs you to the original source when you want to read more.

Where automated summaries, classifications or sentiment analysis are used, they should be clearly distinguishable from the original source material.

9. Gombea Remains Independent

Gombea is an independent information aggregator.

We are not a government service and are not affiliated with or operated by any government institution, political party, candidate or campaign.

Being included on Gombea does not imply an endorsement by Gombea, and appearing as a source does not imply that an organisation endorses Gombea.

Our job is to organise publicly available information and provide tools for exploring it.

We bring the information together. You decide what it means to you.
